L&T Marathon
One step at a time. That’s the way for the 5000+ runners who participated in the inaugural L&T Sea Bridge Marathon on February 18, 2024. This event was more than just an athletic competition; it served as an extraordinary celebration of the cultural vibrancy of this wonderful city and the engineering marvel that supported it.
Organized by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) in collaboration with MMRDA and the Times of India, the marathon spanned the newly constructed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link, seamlessly connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai.
The launch of this colossus of a bridge had to be marked with an event that was appropriately grand. And what better way to do so than to have 5000+ runners from across the world run the length of the bridge? That’s how the L&T Sea Bridge Marathon was conceptualized, and thus it became the world’s only marathon to be run completely above a water body. Meticulous planning and innovative strategies ensured that every detail was impeccable, from the scenic route to the engaging cultural elements. The launch of this marathon did more than connect two parts of a city – it united a community in a shared experience of pride!
